Public Speaking Competition!

On the 22th of March 2012, a Public Speaking Competition was held by the General Studies Department along with the Islamic Arts Festival. This competition was carried out in the UIDM Seminar Room. Each academic department was asked to send two representatives to participate in this competition.The competition is divided into two parts, prepared speech and impromptu speech. In the prepared speech, participants may select their own topics. However, their speeches are to be the original work of the speakers. As for the impromptu speech, the participants are required to draw lots to decide on the topic and they are given 10 minutes to prepare. The prepared speech was carried out in the evening from 3 pm until 5 pm while the impromptu speech started at 9 pm and ended at 10.30 pm on the 22th of March 2012.

Ten students competed in this competition and 3 contestants were selected as the winner. All contestants were able to deliver their well-elaborated and entertaining speech. Ms. Norzalina Bt. Nor Hasin, Ms. Lee Pui Har, Ms. Lynnie Jada, Ms Nur Liyana Mohd Sahiffudin were appointed to be the judges. Farah Amalina Bt Rustam from the Mechanical Engineering Department won the first prize with her critical analysis on Green Technologies and her opinion on the usage of social network while Wan Rafiahtul Adawiah Bt Wan Mat Zailani from the Commerce Department was the runner up. The third place was won by Logantiraan A/L Puvanen Thiran from the Mechanical Engineering Department. On the whole, the competition was a success.
